Russell Domingo, South Africas coach, is hopeful administrators will either give players a wide berth or crack down completely when applying Law 42 - fair and unfair play - because he believes the application of artificial substances to the ball, especially in the form of edibles, occurs often.Domingo spoke to reporters about an hour before his captain Faf du Plessis hearing to face ball-tampering charges took place at the Adelaide Oval and could not comment on the specifics of the case but hinted that one of South Africas defenses could be that everybody else does it too.You see it daily with those types of instances taking place on the field. I dont want to talk about the [Faf] incident too much but it seems to be a daily occurrence on the field of play so they [the administrators] might need to re-look at that should they feel its not within the spirit of the game, Domingo said.Du Plessis was only charged when television footage of him shining the ball with saliva - while also having a sweet or mint in his mouth - was circulated the day after the Hobart Test. By then, the time for the match officials to report an alleged offence had lapsed and the ICC investigated the visuals of their own volition, after being alerted by widespread media reports. After two similar incidents in the last three years (Dubai in 2013 and Galle in 2014), in which broadcasters were also involved in bringing to light South African offences, Domingo said they feel singled out. There are other teams that have maybe done similar things and weve maybe looked at one or two instances that they have done those things and they havent been highlighted. I wouldnt say weve been targeted but weve definitely been highlighted, Domingo said. Its definitely been brought to the attention of the world and its definitely been brought to the attention of the ICC and its definitely been brought to our attention. Although it seemed pretty insignificant at the start of it, quite a lot has been made of it.Lolly-line or Mint-gate as it has been dubbed, has been on the front and back pages in the Australian press. And the South African squad have had several run-ins with the Australian television reporters which culminated in an airport scuffle on their arrival in Adelaide. Journalists were trying to get a comment out of du Plessis, who was shielded by the security officer, and has not spoken to the media since the Hobart win. Despite the possibility of a one-match ban, Domingo said du Plessis was holding up well. Its never pleasant when everybody has got an opinion on you and people have judged you before rulings have been made. Thats the nature of the world at the moment, everybody has got an opinion and can air it. When you are constantly seeing yourself in newspapers and have things written about you, I suppose it does weigh you down at times, Domingo said. He is a tough and resilient man and the team really supported him and surrounded him to lessen the load on him.South Africas entire squad stood alongside Hashim Amla at the MCG when he called the ball-tampering allegations a joke, last Friday and said South Africa believed their captain had done, absolutely nothing wrong. Amlas address took place before du Plessis was charged, but even in hindsight, Domingo does not think they would have handled it differently. We are a unified team. We stand by our captain. We stand by the decisions weve made. They might not have always come across as the ideal way to do things but at that time and space we thought those were the right things to do, he said.Perhaps surprisingly, South Africa have been buoyed by this fight, even though it has marred their preparation for their first pink-ball Test. Two days ahead of the day-night game, they were not sure whether their captain would be able to take the field with them or whether they would be allowed sweets, when they step on the park. But they were very sure theyre in it together.Hopefully these incidents do galvanise the team a bit more. Theres definitely a feeling of togetherness and unity in the group and a lot of support for the current captain, Domingo said. Its been an interesting few days. Weve had a wonderful tour here, its been great, weve played great cricket. Weve had long discussions and our focus now is purely on cricket. It hasnt been ideal preparation. I would be lying if I say its been spectacular preparation but our focus is totally on the cricket.Cheap Custom Knicks Jersey ., and Rudi Swiegers of Kipling, Sask., took sixth spot on Saturday in pairs at the NHK Trophy ISU Grand Prix figure skating competition. After a lengthy wait, persistent rain finally forced the postponement of the Nationals game against the Miami Marlins on Saturday night. The Sooners took their frustrations out by handing the Wildcats their first home shutout loss since 1991, 55-0.This year, the 19th-ranked Sooners (3-2, 2-0) come into the contest after a 45-40 victory over the Longhorns. Needless to say, Bill Snyders Wildcats (3-2, 1-1), who scored a wild 44-38 victory over Texas Tech last week, are looking forward to Saturday afternoons rematch at Memorial Stadium in Norman, Okla.We cant wait to go into OU and give them a little payback for last year, said Wildcats offensive tackle Dalton Risner.Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops, an assistant on Snyders first seven Kansas State teams from 1989 to 1995, says last years convincing blowout win doesnt carry much weight this time around.Last year has nothing to do with this year, Stoops said during the Big 12 coaches teleconference. Were both two completely different teams. Weve got to continue to get better as a team. We havent played close to what we think we can play.Thats especially true on defense. The Sooners who rank 109th in points allowed at 36.2 points per game yielding 40 or more points in three consecutive games. A big reason for that has been due to a rash of injuries.Going into last weeks game against Texas, the Sooners were missing five players who had started on defense at some point this season. During the game, four more were forced out, leading to an influx of young -- or at least inexperienced -- players into Oklahomas defense.I dont recall that we had that many injuries at once and so many young guys going in there and playing, Stoops said before praising their performance. They figure to need another strong one Saturday when Oklahoma hosts Kansas State. The Wildcats have won their last two trips to Norman -- the only road team to win back-to-back road games against the Sooners since Stoops took over in 1999.The good news for the Soooners is that some of the injured players are expected back soon.dddddddddddd. Defensive back Ahmad Thomas is likely to be back after taking a knee to the head last week. Outside linebacker Will Johnson should be able to play against the Wildcats as well after missing the last two weeks. But there are still plenty of holes to fill.Itd be easier to say whos set to go, Stoops said when ticking off his injured players, mostly on the defensive side. Youve just got to keep (going). The guys had a good attitude about it and those young guys, credit to them -- they had their head in the game plan in practice and they were ready to play and for the most part played well.Safety Steven Parker, a junior, was affected as well. Not only did he have to shift from free safety to strong safety to nickel back during the course of the game but its his job to make sure everyone else in the secondary is aligned correctly. Its tough, trying to get yourself lined up and on top of that, making sure that theyre doing their responsibilities, doing everything theyre supposed to be doing, Parker said. Youre calling out the defense. Its a lot just on one play, especially covering those young guys. The majority of them know what theyre doing. Its really more communication and making sure everybody is all in one and all intact.Fortunately for the Sooners they have plenty of offensive weapons to cover up for their defensive woes. Oklahoma rolled up a season-high 672 yards in the Texas win. The contest marked the just the fifth time in FBS history that a team produced a 300-yard passer (Baker Mayfield, 390), a 200-yard rusher (Samaje Perine, 214) and a 200-yard receivers (Dede Westbrook, school-record 232 yards).Oklahoma is 15-2 under Stoops in Big 12 home openers and is 16-1 in the game after playing Texas. That lone loss was to Kansas State, 31-30, two years ago in Norman. ' ' '
